Los Bravos

Review
By School Library Journal

Valentina and her friends Jasmine, Andy, and Xander live at the Wild Oaks apartments, where they love spending time together, discussing all things monsters. They are Los Bravos, and on Saturdays they spend the day together, talking about the monster they believe lives in the nearby woods. Each of them has a theory about what kind of monster it might be: Loogaroo? Or maybe a banshee? They gather evidence as they find it, hoping to prove the monster’s existence. But one Saturday they receive terrible news: everyone at the apartments has to find a new home! Los Bravos love living near each other, and while trying to think of ways to keep the Wild Oaks apartments open, they have a great idea: Why not reach out to the monster in the woods? This fun title has the feel of an old-time monster comic combined with the fun spunk of modern kids who truly believe something with all their heart. Positive themes include friendship and believing even when others poke fun at what you think. Each illustrated page invites readers into the spooky atmosphere, and the fun and friendly personalities of each of trio shines through in the Spanish text and conversation bubbles. Readers will want to be a part of Los Bravos themselves!

VERDICT This fun Spanish-language title is perfect for young readers and fans of graphic novels and all things monsters!
