Art Submission Guidelines - Tu Books

TU BOOKS, an imprint of LEE & LOW BOOKS, is not interested in illustrations for picture books, but will consider fantasy, science fiction, and mystery artwork for book covers and spot illustrations, for novels aimed at older readers (ages 8-18). Artists are welcome to send a postcard sample with the address of their website portfolio following the guidelines below.

Our books feature children/people of color and include a variety of fantasy, science fiction, and mystery. We are particularly interested in hearing from illustrators whose cultural, ethnic, or racial backgrounds and experiences support their knowledge of diverse cultures.

We are open to seeing work from professional illustrators and artists at all levels of experience. Illustrators who have worked in other fields and are interested in creating cover and spot art for novels are also welcome.

Art Sample Submissions:
Illustrators should send a resume and/or cover letter as well as color copies, tear sheets, or other non-returnable illustration samples. We are especially interested in samples that feature children/people of color and that show an element of science fiction or fantasy. If you have a Web site with additional samples of your work, please include the Web address. Please do not send original artwork, portfolios, slides, or electronic samples (on CD or by email).

Our policy is to keep only artwork of interest on file.

PLEASE SEND ALL SUBMISSIONS TO: Submissions Editor, Tu Books, 95 Madison Avenue, Suite 1205, New York, NY 10016. If you require confirmation of delivery, please send the submission with a U.S. Postal Service Return Receipt.
